Responsibilities
Highly qualified construction project professional for IAH Terminal B development. Manage the General Contractor and responsible for the day-to-day construction decisions. Oversee the City's related projects including replacing the ramp areas around the new Terminal B, installation of a new fueling system and an expansion of the Terminal B garage. Responsibilities will include total project management on projects over $1 million including: Setting up and chairing project scope definition meetings with project sponsor. Interpreting sponsor's facility needs and developing a project scope that will efficiently meet those needs and fit within the established budget. Determining project design and permitting constraints and soliciting for professional consulting services support to satisfy code criteria. Receiving and evaluating proposals for design and engineering services needed. Creating and circulating appropriate funding approval documents. Developing and managing project timelines and maturing these into formal schedules. Maintaining appropriate communication of project status to project sponsor and superiors. Reviewing design as it is developed for constructability as well as schedule and budget compliance. Issuing for competitive bidding the completed design, receiving bids and evaluating for completeness. Issuing contracts to selected vendors and management of these contracts in all aspects. Tracking progress of City projects related to CO projects and managing issues to maintain program schedule and budget. Managing professional services staffs, internal direct-reports, prime and general contractors in day-to-day construction activities with a focus on: Tracking project cost and entering project data in project management software. Submitting project reports for Director review. Keeping project on schedule and budget through project completion on contract closeout.
Qualifications
Seven to ten years of large commercial construction project experience (above $20MM). College degree required. Ability to read drawings/blueprints. Construction schedule software (P3, MicroSoft Project, or SureTrak) proficient. Excellent leadership and communication skills. Experience using cost management software (AutoDesk, Primavera or Meridian) preferred. Must be legally authorized to work in the US for any employer without sponsorship.
